Wireless networks permit quick and easy installation, but depend on independent energy sources such asbatteriesoronenergyharvesting.Energye§ciencyisthereforeacommonrequirement.Nevertheless, insomeapplicationdomains,thesolutionsavailableinthemarketaretooenergyhungryastheyare designedforgeneralpurposeappliances.Especiallywhenwirelessdeviceshavetorunindependently foralongtimeandahighminiaturizationallowsonlysmallbatteriesorenergy-harvestingmodules, ultralow-power wireless devices are needed.
