ABSTRACT
The Laplace transform, named after the French mathematician Pierre Simon Laplace (see Appendix), is a major tool for the analysis of continuous time signals and systems and the solution of differential equations. In fact the Fourier transform, one of the most important signal analysis tools is, as we shall see in the next chapter, but a special case of the Laplace transform.
