ABSTRACT
The internal struggle faced by Arjuna is one that earned the empathy of J. Robert Oppenheimer (Figure III.1), the scientific director of the Manhattan Project in which the world’s first nuclear weapons were produced. He reflected on the quoted phrase at the time of Trinity, the detonation of the first atomic bomb in the desert of New Mexico on July 16, 1945 (Figure III.2).
