ABSTRACT
WiMAX is a broadband wireless solution that is likely to play an important role in providing ubiquitous voice and data services to millions of users in the near future, both in rural and urban environment. It is based on the IEEE 802.16 air interface standard suite [1,2], which provides the wireless technology for both fixed, nomadic, and mobile data access. Wireless systems have the capacity to cover large geographic areas without the need for costly cable infrastructure to each service access point, so WiMAX has the potential to prove to be a cost-effective and quickly deployable alternative to cabled networks, such as fiber optic links, cable modems, or digital subscriber lines (DSL).
