ABSTRACT

The use of multiple antennas at the transmitter and the receiver leads to a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channel that can significantly increase the data rate and the reliability of a wireless communication link, without the need for increased transmit power or additional bandwidth. MIMO technology is thus a key enabling technology for many next-generation wireless services, such as real-time streaming of video conferences on portable devices, and seamless nationwide high-speed wireless Internet connectivity.
