ABSTRACT
The JPEG and MPEG standards use discrete cosine transform (DCT) in the transform step of the compression system. The acronyms JPEG and MPEG stand for the Joint Photographic Experts Group and the Moving Picture Experts Group. The two groups consist of members from both the International Standards Organization (ISO) and the International Telecommunications Union (ITU).
