ABSTRACT
Switching is the control or routing of signals in either physical or virtual circuit form to transmit data between specific points in a network. A switched network is a communication network that has switching facilities or centers to perform the function of message switching, packet switching, or circuit switching. The primary purpose of the network switching function is to maximize the transmission system efficiency by sharing the capacity of the transmission system among communications circuits.
