ABSTRACT

In an RF receiver, one of the most important features is its noise characteristics; that is, the attribute of

collecting the desired input signal while producing less noise. The noise factor F and noise figure NF are

the parameters that measure the noise characteristics of RF receivers,

F ¼ SNin SNout

, (9:3:1)

NF ¼ 10 log10 (F), (9 :3:2)

where SNin and SNout are the signal-to-noise ratios at the input and output of the amplifier, respectively.
