ABSTRACT

The purpose of this chapter is to provide a source of data on the properties of III-V semiconductors that

are relevant to optoelectronic applications. The family of III-V materials discussed in this chapter

consists of compounds of the column III elements, aluminum, gallium, and indium, and the column V

elements, phosphorus, arsenic, and antimony. The III-V nitrides and bismuthides are excluded from

consideration here. The three column III and three column V elements can be grouped into 9 binary, 18

ternary and 15 quaternary compounds. Not all of these possible combinations have been successfully

grown, and only about a quarter of them have important optoelectronic applications. This subset of the

III-V family that has important optoelectronic applications is the material covered in this chapter.
