ABSTRACT
Reactors, like capacitors, are basic to and an integral part of both distribution and transmission power systems. Depending on their function, reactors are either connected in shunt or in series with the network, singularly (current limiting reactors, shunt reactors) or in conjunction with other basic components such as power capacitors (shunt capacitor switching reactors, capacitor discharge reactors, –lter reactors).
