ABSTRACT
By design we mean here “dimensioning”. That is, the finding of a suitable geometry and manufacturing data and performance indexes for given specifications. Design, then, means first dimensioning (or synthesis), sizing, then performance assessment (analysis). Finally, if the specifications are not met the process is repeated according to an adopted strategy until satisfactory performance is obtained.
