TC4 titanium alloy is the workpiece material, and its related parameters are shown in Table 1. Its physical properties at room temperature are shown in Table 2.


Titanium alloy has a many advantages such as excellent corrosion resistance, small density, high specific strength, etc. Titanium alloy is found to have much more applications in aerospace, petrochemical industry, shipbuilding, automobile, medical departments, etc. Moreover, in the actual production of machining, efficiency and machining quality are low, as it is well known as a difficult-to-machining material. The surface roughness is an important aspect to measure the quality of TC4 titanium alloy used for processing. Forecasting the processing surface roughness and the optimizing the cutting parameters have important significance to improve the surface quality of parts (Long et al. 2005).
