ABSTRACT

Analytical and experimental studies on the shoreline-mounted wave-power device to determine the hydrodynamic performance of the structure were performed by Wang et al. (2002). Initially the numerical study was performed using linear wave theory by using a boundary element method based on shallow water Green’s function. The investigation was performed on the effects of the bottom slopes on the hydrodynamic performance of the structure using both analytical and experimental study. The experimental study on an OWC in a wave flume

1 INTRODUCTION

OWC wave energy converters are promising devices to absorb the incident wave energy from the ocean waves. These devices reduce the wave heights by absorbing the incident waves, which contain enormous kinetic and potential energy. These wave power generation devices absorb incident wave energy which can be converted into electricity to meet world’s electricity demand but installation and maintenance of the devices are costly and the world environment is changing rapidly.
