ABSTRACT
These schemes have been deemed successful and have consecutively reaffirmed the turbine technology performance. However, there are increasing concerns over the environmental impacts induced by the hydraulic structure operation and the impoundment presence. These include alterations to the regional tidal flow characteristics, with changes to the hydrodynamic regime potentially having corresponding effects on local geomorphological, ecological and water quality processes (Kadiri et al., 2014; Kadiri et al., 2012; Wolf et al., 2009; Roberts et al., 2016).
