ABSTRACT

This chapter shows that molecular chemistry at the graphenization stage lays the foundation of the difference in graphite and shungite carbon derivation under natural conditions during the geological time. It is concerned with the technical graphene, which lays the foundation of the low-performance applications of graphene. Carbon is an undisputed favorite of Nature, which has been working on it for billions years, thus creating a number of natural carbon allotropes. The graphene-based basic structure of shungite carbon provides a good reason to consider the latter at the microscopic level by using high power of the modern empirical and theoretical molecular science of graphene. The geology of graphite is well developed by now According to the modern concept, graphite can be either syngenetic, formed through the metamorphic evolution of carbonaceous matter dispersed in the sediments or epigenetic, originating from precipitation of solid carbon from carbon-saturated COH fluids.
