ABSTRACT

Workload is an enduring concern for all personnel in the aerospace industry, whether they are involved directly with flight operations or indirectly through research and development. High workload is associated with increased error rates (and hence a concomitant decrease in safety margins) as well as having the effect of reducing overall productivity and increasing occupational stress (e.g. Moray, 1988; Sharit and Salvendy, 1982).
