ABSTRACT

Genomes for whole organisms are available at Genbank, the most complete genetic sequence database. The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) at the National Library of Medicine (NLM), National Institutes of Health (NIH), is responsible for producing and distributing the GenBank Sequence Database. Gen- bank is also the name of the format in which Genbank records are stored (GenBank Flat File Format). Biopython has reading support for this kind of file (with the Bio.SeqlO module).
