ABSTRACT

As multiple organizations are included in the value chain that delivers cloud-based application services to end users, it is crucial that the responsibilities and accountabilities of each party are back to back, meaning they are complete and interlocked. The chapter highlights the five fundamental accountability risks onto the canonical service delivery model: incomplete accountability risk, conflicting accountability risk, ambiguous demarcation risk, ambiguous service-level objective risk, and inadequate/ambiguous data risk. It also highlights the primary accountability boundaries for cloud service customers on the canonical accountability model. Cloud service customers should clarify the accountabilities that their software suppliers, integration suppliers, and cloud service providers of infrastructure, management, orchestration, and functional components offered as-a-service providers have toward them. Also, cloud service providers should clarify the accountabilities that they have toward both their cloud service users and the network providers that haul traffic to and from users.
