ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book first considers the purported benefits of cloud computing. Next, it shows how the highest-level benefits of the cloud offered in the first European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) network functions virtualization (NFV) white paper accrue differently to both cloud infrastructure service provider organizations and cloud service customer (CSC) organizations. The book also considers how application life cycle processes change with the cloud, especially when more high-functionality service components are available offs the shelf. The Agile development and DevOps methodologies can enable this acceleration. The book then considers how cloud impacts application testing to both accelerate the pace of service innovation and reduce costs. It further considers improving operational efficiency of cloud-based applications and how CSCs information technology (IT) service management processes would slikely be impacted by cloud computing.
