ABSTRACT

The importance of green pellets' qualities namely, size, drop number, and compressive strength with respect to their transportation to the furnace and subsequent induration is discussed. Their dependence on the raw material characteristics, process, and operation-related variables are described. The content of moisture influences the strength of green balls; however, it is material specific and depends on how the pores of concentrate are saturated. The dependence of viscosity and the fineness of ores on the drop resistance and crushing strength of green pellets is outlined. The compressive strength of dried pellets is also influenced by the binder input.
