Catalyst and Process Management Challenges book
This chapter describes the management of fresh catalysts from the plants where they are manufactured, through catalyst handling in the refineries, catalyst loading, catalytic reformer startup, and the performance of catalysts in catalytic reformers. It also provides the specific case of low coke naphtha reforming challenges in continuous catalyst regenerative reformers. During catalyst unloading from fixed-bed regenerative reactors, some oil refiners unload their spent catalyst without conducting the coke burn process. For continuous catalyst regenerative process units, catalyst unloading should be handled with care and oil refiners should follow guidelines provided by process technology licensors. Modifications to the catalyst oxy-chlorination and reduction stages led to significant improvements in the naphtha reforming performance of that Pt-Re catalyst. S. O. Oyekan focused on the principles of the catalytic reforming process, specifically on catalytic reactions.
