ABSTRACT

The application of management techniques to control civil engineering work and the establishment of cost principles for projects are essential in today’s construction industry. Engineers must organise, plan and assess the cost of a facility at all stages of a project’s life cycle; from concept to feasibility through design, construction, commissioning and handover, and then on into operation, maintenance, future refurbishment(s) and ultimately asset decommissioning at the end of the facility’s lifetime.
