ABSTRACT
Magnetic flux leakage nondestructive testing consists of magnetizing a test part, generally a ferromagnetic material, and scanning its surface with some form of flux-sensitive sensor 1 for leakage fields, The practitioner must have a clear understanding of both the magnetizing techniques used to produce magnetic flux leakage (MFL) from surface and subsurface flaws, and how commonly used MFL sensors react to such fields.
