ABSTRACT

As outlined in Chap. 23, in most eddy current instruments the exciter coil induces eddy currents in a test part, and sense coils or hall elements are used to detect the magnetic effect of these currents. In some instruments, only one coil is used, doubling as exciter and sense coil. In others, a second coil or hall element arrays are used. In this chapter, the electrical parameters of such sensors are discussed. Hall sensors have been discussed in Chap. 21.
