ABSTRACT
In this chapter the basic R-L circuit is used to introduce the idea of the impedance plane diagram and normalization of eddy current voltages. Förster’s ideas of the characteristic frequency (fg ) effective permeability (μ eff ), transmission coefficient (τ), and coupling efficiency factor (η) are introduced. How the diagrams are used in eddy current testing is then presented.
