ABSTRACT

While the penetrant technique is based on some of the earliest scientific observations, it has certainly found circumstances in modern industry and research where it is not only useful, but it is also the best technique. With regard to the simplicity of application, it is probably the easiest to use in its most basic application. More advanced techniques, however, require specialized equipment and processes. The NDE engineer will surely choose the penetrant technique both because of its ease in application and the special merits.
