ABSTRACT
Ultrasonic inspection is typically performed using one of the following basic procedures, namely: (1) normal beam, pulse-echo; (2) normal beam, through-transmission; (3) angle beam, pulse-echo; (4) angle beam, through-transmission. The material presented in this section will describe the fundamentals of these methods. Some more specialized applications of the procedures will also be discussed in order to demonstrate more clearly the unique capabilities of each.
