ABSTRACT
Until recent years engineers had available only the methods already discussed, and variations of them, to analyse statistically indeterminate structures. For any structure of more than one degree of redundancy, the result was always obtained as a solution to a set of linear equations, the only exception being moment-distribution solutions involving no sway. The engineer often went to considerable lengths to make the set small.
