ABSTRACT
Adaptive resonance theory, or ART, refers to a class of self-organizing neural architectures that cluster the pattern space and produce archetypal weight vector templates. As such they have many features in common with the networks described in Chapter 8. However, ART networks are substantially richer architecturally and dynamically since they attempt to fulfil a much broader programme of objectives.
