ABSTRACT

The intention of this chapter is twofold: partly to introduce the general facilities for linear algebra that are new in Maple 6, but mainly to focus on the new facilities for numerical linear algebra that use the NAG library internally. These facilities allow sophisticated numerical computations to be performed automatically, with very little user effort, and much of the programming that would be needed in other languages is simply unnecessary. They complement the facilities for numerical solution of equations, numerical integration, etc., that were introduced in the previous chapter.
