1) The total consumption of energy in the UK is about 10¹⁹ J yr^-l, about 1/30^th of the world total. What fraction of this is required for domestic heating? Assume that the rate of heat loss through a domestic cavity wall is about 2 W m^-2 per unit centigrade temperature difference across the wall.
