ABSTRACT
In the everyday world a hot object, for example a hot potato, placed in a uniform environment will lose heat at a rate governed by Newton's law of cooling, according to which the rate of loss of heat is proportional to the temperature difference ∆T between the surface of the potato and its surroundings.
