ABSTRACT
This question concerns the feasibility of laser communication with a nearby civilisation. At a wavelength, λ of 500nm the specific luminosity of the Sun is 1023 W nm-1. A laser shone from Earth orbit has a beam width of 10-7 rad and a bandwidth ∆λ=10-3nm.
