ABSTRACT

The process to construct a control system is often complex and time consuming. For large systems, like an aircraft, several manyears of work are required. Much of the work involves configuration, specification, and structuring. It concerns questions of which signals should, or must, be measured and decisions about the quality of the sensors and actuators to be acquired. In particular, the process involves how to break down the whole control problem into pieces of cascaded loops, possibly with feedforward action; which sensor signals to use to determine a certain control input, etc.
