ABSTRACT
Steelandcompositemembersareusuallymadeofthin-walledsteelplateelementsbyhot rolling,weldingorcoldforming.Memberscomposedofslenderplateelementsmayfail prematurelyowingtolocalbuckling.Localbucklingofthinsteelplatesremarkablyreduces theultimatestrengthandstiffnessofsteelandcompositemembers.Therefore,itisimportanttounderstandthelocalbucklingbehaviourofthinsteelplatesundervariousloading andboundaryconditionsandtoconsiderlocalbucklingeffectsinthedesignofsteeland composite members.
