ABSTRACT
The program ES 1 (ElectroStat ic , I -dimension) was written by A . B. Langdon for C. K. Birdsal l 's course in Berkeley, in 1 972 . Al though ES I was designed to be a teaching too l , it has formed a base for programs used pro fess ional ly . ES I is available to al l users of the National Magnetic Fusion Energy Computer Center, and is easi ly adapted to other computer systems.
