ABSTRACT
The models we are considering are of an empirical nature that attempt to describe the anticipated structural patterns in the data rather than building a mechanical model to describe the components of the biological and physical processes involved. Such empirical models are frequently able to summarize the observed patterns and to pinpoint important aspects requiring more information.
