ABSTRACT
The strength and composition of sewage changes on an hourly, daily and seasonal basis, with the average strength dependent on per capita water usage, infi ltration, surface run-off as well as local habits and diet. Water usage in the USA is at least twice as great as that in the UK, which is why sewage in the USA is weaker ( Table 13.1 ).
