An electric power system, as it is shown in Figure 1.1, comprises a group of components including generation equipment, a transmission system, subtransmission, and distribution system. The major difference, when comparing the mentioned components, exists in their functionality. There are voltage differences when connecting the mentioned systems together, therefore electric power transformers are used to interconnect the power grid.
