ABSTRACT

Methanogenic archaea are responsible for all biological sources of methane such as landll gas (biogas produced from natural fermentation process) and man-made synthetic biogas. Both landll gas and synthetic biogas are produced by the anaerobic decay of cellulosic matter (biomass). Natural sources of biogas include swamps, marshes, and landlls, in addition to enteric fermentation, particularly in cattle. Synthetic biogas can be produced and optimized from agricultural waste materials such as sewage sludge and manure by way of anaerobic digesters [1-4].
