Myths and the Private Investigator The image that many have of the private investigator is based primarily upon myths and legends portrayed in novels and films, and on television. Some of these images portray the private investigator as a bigger-than-life hero, while others show the investigator as a seedy, unethical character who will do anything for money. Both of these unrealistic perceptions can have an enormous impact on the image of the real private investigator.
