ABSTRACT

Clearly, the London scenario in the 1960s was very different from that in the inter war years. The BPMS was now firmly established at Hammersmith, and the BPMF, which had taken over much of the organisation and running of courses, had assumed much of the work formerly undertaken by the FM and its successor - the FPM. Furthermore, the Royal Colleges themselves were taking an increasing interest in postgraduate medical training, and also Postgraduate Medical Centres, each with its own tutor, were springing up in most British hospitals.
