ABSTRACT

The first Ordinary meeting of the Society was held at 20 Hanover Square (the venue for all meetings until October 1908 – see Chapter 1), at 8.30pm on Wednesday 26 June 1907.

Present [were]: Sir Patrick Manson [see Figure 2.1] President, Professor R Ross Vice-president, the Treasurer, Secretaries, 32 Fellows and 33 Visitors …

The President, Sir Patrick Manson, delivered his inaugural address [see below] to the [newly formed] Society.

Dr C W Daniels [see Chapter 1], Superintendent [of the] London School of Tropical Medicine, gave an Epidiascope Demonstration of objects of interest in Tropical Medicine.

The President [then] proposed a vote of thanks to Dr Daniels for his demonstration, which was carried unanimously.

Mr [A E] Shipley [see Chapter 1] proposed, and Professor Ross seconded a vote of thanks to the President, which was carried unanimously.

The meeting closed at 10.10pm.
