ABSTRACT

The chapter discusses the methods and the more suitable techniques and products that are useful for the removal of micro and macro organisms that grow on artificial and natural stone works of art, including wall paintings. It provides updated results on mechanical, physical, and chemical methods. Results deriving from studies in other fields-civil buildings and their structures, water systems, plastics, etc.—are presented.
