ABSTRACT

The North Eastern (NE) states of India harbors immense floral diversity and lies among the biodiversity hot spot regions of the world. The region houses considerable ethnic multiplicity, which largely differ in their traditions, customs and language. Majority of these tribes are rich in the utilization of plants for medicinal purposes. Several studies pertaining to

the documentation of rich ethnomedicinal diversity of North East India have been conducted and the reports indicate vast diversity of plants that are used for treatment of diverse diseases and ailments. In this chapter, we emphasize on some selected ethnomedicinal plants and their uses in treatment of various ailments among tribes of NE India.
