ABSTRACT

Rosie and Carl have just bought a new car and are ready to go for a ride, but each wants to be the first to drive. Each may either say “I want to drive” (the more aggressive stance) or “Please — you drive first” (the more polite stance). Rosie and Carl agree that the best outcomes are those that peacefully determine who gets to drive, even though such an outcome would mean that one of them would have to settle for being a passenger. Both agree that the last choice is fighting about who gets to drive. We call this game New Car.
