ABSTRACT

The Internet as we know it is rapidly evolving and is expected to remove the digital barrier that covers the physical world. In the near future, not only traditional computing devices will be connected to the Internet, but also almost any everyday object, such as cars, lampposts, and even people, will have a representation in the digital world. Everyday objects will be equipped with tiny processors, radio transceivers, sensors, and actuators and will be addressable and queriable from anywhere and at anytime. The world will be covered with billions of smart interacting objects offering all sorts of services and bringing economic growth and comfort to industries, governments, and final users. This evolution of the Internet is already known as the Internet of Things.
