ABSTRACT
The Transaction Processing Performance Council, formed in 1988, is an independent organization devoted to the specification and standardization of publicly available measures of computer performance. It initially comprised workstation vendors but soon expanded to the larger vendors. Its membership today is comprised of computer manufacturers and software providers and includes Oracle, IBM, and HP.
