Relationship to Performance What, you may ask, has performance got to do with high availability (HA) and its sister discipline, disaster recovery (DR)? Quite a lot. If the system fails and you cannot recover it, that is a serious performance problem. You may be worried if your planned 2 s response time averages out at 5 s, but think, what happens if the response time is measured in days if the system goes down or encounters a disaster?
