ABSTRACT

If the situation demands that you approach a scene with your weapon in the ready position, place your trigger finger outside the trigger guard. The advantages of this practice are multiple. First, if an assailant should grab your handgun in a surprise move, he will not be able to wrest it from you by breaking the finger caught inside the trigger guard. Second, if you should stumble or fall, the muscle tensing reaction will not cause you to pull the trigger and perhaps injure an innocent person.
